History

Work Experience

2016 – 2020:
Consultant for Department of Water Services, Hawaii for the investigation and analysis of the failure of submersible pumping units returned to the factory for inspection.

2016:
Consultant for the investigation and analysis of the failure of a 700 horsepower submersible pumping unit.

2015 – Present:
Engineering Coordinator for Laub Construction, Inc. for pre-construction design analysis, construction oversight and innovated solutions.

2014 – 2015:
Consultant for the investigation and analysis of the failure of a 700 horsepower submersible pumping unit.

2014:
Construction Manager for the 6-classroom addition to Holy Cross School and the renovation of the Holy Cross Hall in Batavia, IL.

2012 – 2013:
Consultant for the investigation and analysis of the failure of a 200 horsepower submersible pumping unit. 

2012 – 2013:
Supervised Removal and Remediation of Underground Buried Fuel Tanks Elburn, IL.

2011 – 2012:
Facilitated obtaining Permits and Variances for Construction Project Elburn, IL.

2007 – 2009:
Construction Representative for Holy Cross Parish in Batavia, IL.   Managed the design and construction of the grade school and the design and renovation of the parish offices.

2000 – 2005:
Constructed a 4-story 44 unit condominium structure with underneath parking garage on the Fox River in Batavia, IL.   Designed, bid, and managed the project including the TIF improvements.  Purchased the properties, removed the existing structures, obtained all permits and approvals, including creating a TIF agreement and a Planned Unit Development document.  

1994 – 1995:
Reconstructed office building in Geneva, IL.  Purchased the building, obtained all permits and approvals, designed, bid, and managed the reconstruction from sub-floor to roof.

1991 – 1992:
Constructed a 3-story office building in downtown Batavia, IL.  Obtained all permits and approvals, designed, bid, and managed the construction.

1987 – 1988:
Constructed a 22-lot neighborhood subdivision blending single family and duplex residences in Batavia, IL.  Purchased the property, annexed the property into Batavia, obtained all permits and approvals, designed, bid, and managed the construction of the infrastructure of the subdivision.  

1973 – 2019:
Operated the family water well business, designing, constructing, and maintaining water well systems.  In 1976, purchased the business from father.  

Pre-1969:
Worked summers while in school.

2020:
Recipient of National Ground Water Association’s most prestigious award, the Ross L. Oliver Award.

2017:
Presenter of Educational Session for the Ohio Society of Professional Engineers Conference.

2016:
Recipient of National Ground Water Association’s initial award of NGWA Fellow Designation.

2015:
Primary Reviewer representing the National Ground Water Association for the Bi-National (US & Canada) Standard for the Design and Installation of Earth Energy Systems – CSA C448.

2013:
Facilitator for the Illinois Department of Public Health for Water Well Construction Code amendments.

2013:
Presenter of GHP System Engineering – Stimulating the “Engine” in Engineering at the 2013 National Ground Water Association’s Summit.

2012:
Represented the National Ground Water Association at the ABAS Groundwater Conference in Bonito, Brazil.  Presented Session on the NGWA’s Water Well Cost Calculator.

2011:
Represented the National Ground Water Association at the first meeting of the European Groundwater Association in Piacenza, Italy.  

2011:
Presenter of Status, Challenges, and Solutions of Ground Water Heat Pump Applications in the U. S. at the Seventh International Conference on Green and Energy-Efficient Building & New Technologies and Products Expo in Beijing, China

2011 – Present:
Instructor for Water Quality Association’s Non-Transient Non-Community public water systems operator training for persons obtaining their Illinois Department of Public Health Non-Transient Non-Community Public Water Systems Operator’s certification

2009 – 2017:
One of five to rewrite the National Ground Water Association 2nd edition of Guidelines for the Construction of the Vertical Boreholes for Closed Loop Heat Pump Systems; and to edit the National Ground Water Association 3rd edition of Guidelines for the Construction of the Vertical Boreholes for Closed Loop Heat Pump Systems.  Provide technical advice in the development of National Ground Water Association’s position on the role of National Ground Water Association in the Ground Source Heat Pump industry.

2006 – 2017:
Co-developer of the Water Well Cost Calculator and Pump Installation Cost Calculator for the National Ground Water Association.  

Developer of the Pump Sizer, Water Use, Ground Water Heat Pump, and Ground Water Heat Pump Impact calculators

2005 – 2013:
Director of the National Ground Water Association (President 2012)
